On behalf of the Black Food Sovereignty Working Group, you are invited to attend the launch event of their new report, Food Sovereignty for Black Communities in Toronto: Challenges and Policy Opportunities, which explores creating a food system that meets the needs of Black communities.

Itah Sadu, award-winning storyteller, children’s author, and co-owner of the independent bookstore, A Different Booklist

Presenters:

Winston Husbands, Adjunct Professor, University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health; member of the Black Food Sovereignty Working Group

Kemba Byam, Acting Manager, Confronting Anti-Black Racism Unit, Social Development, Finance & Administration, City of Toronto

Anan Lololi, Chair of the Black Food Sovereignty Working Group, & Research Associate at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Centre for Studies in Food Security

Presenters will explore the main themes and issues highlighted in this Black Food Sovereignty Policy paper and discuss future directions for action. After the presentations, we'll open the floor for an invigorating exchange of ideas and perspectives. Get ready to be a part of an inspiring conversation!

Catering coordinated by Chef Bashir Munye, culinary professor at George Brown College, food consultant, recipe developer and an academic researcher, and provided by Chef Rachel Adjei, owner of The Abibiman Project.
